Every figure carries its source

Each record stores the URL it was taken from, the kind of source it is, and the date we retrieved it — all printed on the jurisdiction pages, so you can follow any number back to the body that published it.

Two kinds of source sit side by side, and the table says which is which. BLS OEWS rows are the federal government's official occupational wage survey: an annual estimate covering every employer in the area, public and private, so they answer “what does this role pay here” rather than “what does this agency pay this person”. Public-records rows are individual salaries a specific public body released, and name that employer.
