Privacy policy

What we collect, what we deliberately do not, and how to get it removed.

Last updated: August 29, 2026

GovHealthJobs is operated as an independent job search and information service. This policy covers what happens to your information when you browse the site, create an account, or contact us. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, host, or upload CVs or résumés. There is no upload field anywhere on this site and no application form. Every job listing links back to the official employer or agency site, and your application — including everything in it — is made there, under that organization's own process and privacy terms. We never see it, never receive a copy, and never forward one to an employer or recruiter.

We also do not collect information about your race, health, disability status, veteran status, immigration status, or any other special category of personal data. Where a listing mentions veterans' preference, that is a property of the job posting, not something we record about you.

What we collect

If you create an account or use a feature that needs one, we store:

  • Name and email address — to identify your account and send anything you have asked for.
  • Authentication identity — a hashed password, or the account identifier returned by a third-party sign-in provider if you use one. We never store a password in readable form and never receive your password from a sign-in provider.
  • Saved jobs — the listings you have bookmarked, so they are there on your next visit.
  • Digest preferences — the searches, filters, and frequency you have chosen for job alert emails.
  • Reminder settings — the closing dates or license renewal dates you have asked to be reminded about, and when to send the reminder.

If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address, subject and message you type, plus basic technical metadata attached to the request, and we keep the exchange for as long as it takes to resolve it.

We also keep ordinary server logs — IP address, request path, timestamp, user agent — for security, abuse prevention and debugging. These are retained for a short period and are not used to build a profile of you.

How we use it

Only for the things you asked for: running your account, showing your saved jobs, sending the digests and reminders you enabled, replying to your messages, and keeping the service secure and working. We use aggregate, non-identifying counts to understand which parts of the site are useful. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share your details with employers, recruiters, or advertisers.

Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies only, by default. Those are the session and authentication cookies that keep you logged in and protect forms against cross-site request forgery. They cannot be turned off without breaking the site, and they are not used for tracking.

Anything beyond that — analytics, measurement — is consent-gated: it does not load, and no identifier is set, until you affirmatively opt in, and you can withdraw that at any time. We treat this as the default for US visitors too, not only where a law compels it. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party ad pixels, and no cross-site tracking on this site.

Every cookie we set is listed by name, purpose and lifetime in the cookie policy, which also carries the switch for turning analytics on or off. There is a Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

Email and consent

Job digests, reminders and any other recurring email are sent only to addresses that opted in to them. Service messages tied to your account — password resets, email verification, security notices — are sent because you have an account, and cannot be unsubscribed from separately while the account exists.

Every marketing or digest email carries a one-click unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately, with no login and no confirmation step. You can also change or switch off every email from your account settings.

Retention and deletion

Account data is kept while your account is open. Delete your account and we remove your profile, saved jobs, digest preferences and reminder settings; unsubscribe records and minimal transactional logs are kept where we need them to honour your opt-out or to meet a legal obligation. Server logs age out on a short cycle. Contact-form correspondence is deleted once the matter is closed and no longer needed.

You can ask us at any time for a copy of what we hold about you, for corrections, or for deletion — email us and we will act on it. We do not require a reason.

Third-party processors

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data on our instructions and for no other purpose:

  • Hosting and infrastructure — the servers, database and storage the application runs on.
  • Email delivery — the provider that transmits account emails, digests and reminders.
  • Analytics — only if you have consented, and configured not to track you across other sites.
  • Payments — Stripe processes membership payments. If you subscribe, your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by GovHealthJobs. We hold only Stripe's identifiers for your customer and subscription, and the status and renewal date of that subscription, so we know whether your membership is active. Stripe's own privacy policy governs what it does with your payment information.

Following an external application link takes you to a site we do not control — a government careers portal, an agency site, an employer's own system. What happens to your information there is governed by that site's privacy policy, not this one.

Children

This is a service for job seekers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them, and will delete it if we learn we have.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how we use data you have already given us, tell account holders by email before it takes effect.

Contact

Questions, access requests, corrections, or deletion requests go to the same place: our contact page. We reply by email.
