About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Wood Worker (Blocker & Bracer/Packer) WG-4604-08 for Joint Munitions Command located at Tooele Army Depot, Depot Operations, Tooele, Utah.

What you will do

  • Design, plan, build, and construct custom shipping, supply, and storage containers.
  • Use construction plans and rough sketches to construct odd-shaped items used for shipping hazardous materials and explosives.
  • Block, brace, and secure ammunition items for shipment.
  • Select appropriate methods of packing and material to be used.
  • Block, brace, cushion, insert desiccant, and secures containers.
  • Use arithmetic formulas to compute bracing materials.
  • Load and unload cargo; segregate items according to condition code, lot number, and quantity; and store, stack, and palletize items.
  • Operate an electric, diesel, or gasoline-powered fork lift capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds to transport and stack high explosives.

This position requires a 1 year probationary periodduring which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
