About the role
The Division of Insurance and Research (DIR) provides the public with a sound deposit insurance system by: providing comprehensive statistical information on banking; identifying and analyzing emerging risks; conducting research that supports sound deposit insurance, banking policy, improved risk assessment, and consumer protection; and assessing the adequacy of the deposit insurance fund and implementing an effective and fair risk-based premium system.
Internship will begin Fall 2026.

Requirements
- Registration with the Selective Service. U.S. Citizenship is required.
- National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) required.
- Must sign pathways agreement if selected.
- Must provide official transcripts if selected.
- Must have a graduation date of May 2027 or later.
Education
A participant must be accepted for enrollment or are enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution or accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a qualifying career or technical education program that awards a recognized postsecondary credential (such as a Registered Apprenticeship Program, Jobs Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps) on a full or half-time basis; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.5 grade point average; and remain in good academic standing.

FDIC employees work full-time in the office in collaboration with other staff at the location for which they are hired. The duty location is determined upon selection. All selectees must sign an FDIC Pathways Internship Participant Agreement.
