About the role

This position serves as a Program Analyst (Data Analytics), located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Pardon Attorney (PARDON) in Washington, DC.

Since 1894, the President has requested and received the assistance of the Attorney General and designees in the Department of Justice (Department) in exercising clemency power regarding persons convicted for committing offenses against the United States. **This announcement will close after the first 100 applications. **

What you will do

  • Develops, evaluates and modifies methodologies and procedures for manipulating files for use with commercial off-the-shelf products and litigation support applications.
  • Research and designs presentations and interpretations of analytical outputs tailored to specific audiences including the use of interactivity and narrative storytelling, where appropriate.
  • Provides strategic and technical guidance and hands-on support in the transfer of any required data needed for ad-hoc and ongoing analyses.
  • Collects effective, comparable case management data and provides advice and information that assists PARDON in its understanding of the state of case processing and case resolution.
  • Assists in the development and improvement of information management systems, programs, storage and catalog solutions to support the data gathering and analytical needs of PARDON while continually improving the scientific and evaluation methodologies for these systems and programs.
  • The duties listed above are generally written for one grade level.
  • If the position is advertised at multiple grades, the duties will be adjusted in difficulty, complexity, and level of supervision, for higher or lower grades, as appropriate.

  • This letter must contain (a) military service dates including the expected discharge or release date and (b) character of service.
  • If you are claiming 10-point veterans' preference as a Disabled Veteran, Purple Heart Recipient, or Mother or Spouse of a Disabled or Deceased Veteran, in addition to the documents specified above, you must submit all additional proof required by the SF-15, and if applicable, a completed SF-15.
  • CTAP/ICTAP eligibility documentation - If you are a displaced Federal employee claiming eligibility under CTAP or ICTAP, you must submit: A copy of the agency notice (i.e., letter of intent, separation notice, or agency RIF letter), Your most recent performance appraisal, and Most recent SF-50 showing current/former position, grade, promotion potential, and duty location.

Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider: 1) your performance and conduct; 2) the needs and interests of the agency; 3) whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and 4) whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.

Upon completion of your probationary period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
