About the Position: Serve as a Maintenance Worker for the project office to which assigned. The maintenance staff operate and maintain one or more flood control dams. Relocation and recruitment incentives may be offered to highly qualified candidates.

What you will do

• Perform a variety of maintenance, repair and operational duties for the park office to which assigned.
• Apply a variety of standardized methods, procedures and techniques to maintain and repair equipment.
• Inspect circuit breakers and fuses for proper condition and size, replacing defective breakers.
• Weld similar metal components together to fabricate or repair equipment.
• Construct, install, repair or modify items and structures.
• Repair, replace and maintain such things as pipe, tile, union joints, faucets and drains.
• Dam operation: Collect humidity, temperature and wind velocity readings from weather instruments.
• Make gate settings to regulate outflow of water.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair.
• Operate a variety of vehicles and vessels.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Salary Ranges: WG-05: $22.10 to 25.78 WG-07: $26.34 to 30.71 WG-08: $28.45 to 33.17 On-site government housing may be available. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
