About the role

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation at Seymour Johnson AFB. The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple equipment.

Moderately heavy physical effort is required in occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and in pushing heavy furniture, loading carts etc. Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

What you will do

• Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies etc, moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, hand truck or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed.Using a shovel, digs ditches and tranches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt, and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); clears small trees and bushes using handsaw, hatchet or clipper.Moves and arranges furniture as directed; shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.

A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
