About the role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ITSPEC (CUSTSPT) - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2182P01 and is part of the KY 123 AW, National Guard.

What you will do

• As a ITSPEC (CUSTSPT) - TITLE 32, GS-2210-11, you will perform a variety of network device configuration and connectivity tasks.
• Execute procedures and coordinate corrective action to optimize network performance.
• Install, configure and monitor software packages that provide performance measurements of the WAN/LAN.
• Implement standard configuration software loads for network devices.
• Work with technical support personnel in resolving critical problems.
• Use remote management software tools to maintain and update configuration, protocol and files.
• Ensure backup processes are completed.
• Evaluate performance of network devices.
• Coordinate development and implementation of configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs with supported elements.
• Implement plans and procedure for installation of applications and upgrades.
• Monitor distribution of applications and upgrades ensuring compliance with regulations and copyright laws.
• Implement procedures to ensure accurate records of authorized users of distributed software are maintained.
• Implement standard operating procedures for devices on the network.
• Review and evaluate proposed software.
• Provide input to briefings and presentations on the complexities of the installation networks.
• Analyze equipment and software reliability and utilization reports to identify and define problem areas and to establish end-to-end systems performance levels.

Requirements

• Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable.
• Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
• CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
• You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
• Wear of the military uniform.
• Position may require a pre-employment physical.
• May be subject to furlough actions.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
• Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
• Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
• An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• This position conducts information assurance functions.
• The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification.
• Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M.
• Must obtain and maintain Security+ Certification within six (6) months of appointment.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-2210 Title 32 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below.

FOR THE GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent -OR- 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree All undergraduate or graduate education must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

To receive credit for education, you must provide OFFICIAL transcripts.

How you will be evaluated
