About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.

This position is located at the 2nd Signal Brigade, 52nd Signal Battalion's NEC in Hohenfels Germany. The initial length of this overseas tour is 36 months with possible extensions up to 5 years.

What you will do

• Operates, maintains, and oversees NIPRNet/SIPRNet architecture, executing configuration, monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting of LAN/CAN routers, switches and shared computing systems to maintain reliable operational connectivity.
• Manages network accreditation, inventory, and IAVA-compliant releases while overseeing the configuration, testing, and policy-compliancy.
• Oversees Cable Distribution Systems upgrades, installation, and physical repairs, conducting QA/QC testing and reliability analyses to ensure compliance with technical standards.
• Develops local LAN/ICAN operating policies, baselines, and standard procedures, while maintaining network diagrams and managing toolsets for rapid configuration and operating system recovery.
• Evaluates network traffic, utilization metrics, and hardware/software capabilities using benchmarks and modeling techniques to identify trends, resolve bottlenecks, and plan capacity enhancements.
• Coordinates with higher-echelon support to deliver on-site touch labor, resolve critical backbone outages, and provide end-user and support staff technical training

Benefits

If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers.

The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location.

In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level: 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap). **Incumbent (or Selectee) appointed to IA\IT positions must complete all DoD 8570.

I-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program training and certification (baseline and computing environment (CE) requirements within 6 months. Sustainment training is required as needed to keep the IA\IT professional proficient in their job duties.

All individuals performing technical functions are required to sign a Privileged-Level Access Agreement (PAA) and Non- Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
