About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity (AMSA) 136, Branch Maintenance Activity (BMA) 2 located in Augusta, Michigan. AMENDMENT: Announcement close date changed from 9/3/26 to 9/17/2026

What you will do

• construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment.
• Equipment may include bulldozers, graders, tractors, generators and forklifts.
• Remove and repair major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators.
• Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
• Perform initial and in-process inspections; perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction; perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts; and perform minor body work.
• Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
• Operate motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station.

To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment.
