About the role

This job opportunity is for an HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, position description D03469000, within the 177th Logistics Readiness Squadron of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.

The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair and modify heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment, including, but not limited to, materiel handling, fire-fighting and base maintenance and refueling systems.

What you will do

• Perform major repairs and maintenance on heavy mobile equipment and special purpose vehicles Diagnose the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, test equipment Make adjustments and repair to front ends, suspensions and electrical systems Determine serviceability by operational driving test.
• Perform body repair and corrosion control, refinish and repaint surfaces as required.
• Clean, test and repair radiators/oil coolers and associated parts.

What to expect next
