District of Columbia Air National Guard Joint Base Andrews, MD HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (TITLE 32) GS-0671-09 Group 3- Current or former uniformed service members (Active, Reserve, Guard) nationwide who are eligible for military membership in the (DCANG). **THIS IS NOT A CIVILIAN POSITION.

  • The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
  • Minimum Military Rank: E-1/ AB Maximum Military Rank: E-7/MSgt Other requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within One (1) year of appointment.
  • This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG), Component Numbered Air Force (cNAF), Air Operations Group (AOG), Air Support Squadron (ASUS).
  • The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the full-time Health Systems Specialist for the installation, geographically separated units (GSUs), and tenant units, with responsibility for managing all medical administrative functions including medical support, medical operations, force health management and related medical applications.
  • Due to the unique mission of the cNAF, this PD cannot be used in any other organization.
  • Duties: Manages Health Services activities, including plans and operations, human resource management, and medical staffing.
  • Provides medical management and advisory services that contribute substantially to the plans, policies, decisions, and objectives of senior management.
  • Develops plans, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the overall operation of the Medical Staff.
  • Ensures that plans and schedules are prepared for Medical Staff members and support personnel to attain combat ready proficiency.
  • Determines eligibility, authorizes and coordinates civilian and military medical care for Active Guard Reserve (AGR) personnel and other eligible beneficiaries in accordance with directives and local policies.

Education

May substitute an educational degree study program for some specialized experience. An Undergraduate Degree in Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), or related fields such as, Primary Care Management.

Other completed degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Information Systems Management, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering and Health Management/Health Systems Engineering, Operations Research or other closely-related degree fields.

Or A Graduate Degree in Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Information Systems Management, or other business-related equivalent.

If you are found to be among the top qualified candidates, you will be referred to the selecting official for employment consideration.Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics): Knowledge of the mission, organization, programs, requirements of health care delivery systems to plan, organize, and implement the unit's full-time health program and perform paraprofessional screening procedures by implementing the following: DOD, OSHA, USAF, ANG, federal, state, and local instructions and policies.

Knowledge of emergency medical practice and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to resolve problems.
