The FTC's Bureau of Competition enforces the nation's antitrust laws, which form the foundation of our free market economy. The Bureau of Competition is seeking experienced attorneys to fill a vacancy in its Litigation Group, focused on federal district court litigations in collaboration with the Bureau's various offices.

What you will do
- As an attorney in the Litigation Group, you will be principally focused on federal district court litigations involving some of the Bureau of Competition's most complex and high-profile cases.
- Litigation Group attorneys may appear as lead or senior counsel in federal district court trials, and routinely support all aspects of contested litigations, including pre-complaint legal research and case assessment as well as all phases of the civil discovery process.
- Candidates should have significant experience with complex civil litigation discovery, and successful candidates will likely have relevant trial experience including direct and cross examinations, work with experts, and oral advocacy.
- Experience in antitrust matters is preferred but not required.
- Candidates should demonstrate excellent legal research and writing abilities, strong organizational and analytical skills, and excellent oral communications skills.
- Candidates also should be able to effectively lead teams of attorneys and support staff, exercise sound judgment, and exhibit a strong interest in the work of the agency.
- More specifically, incumbents of this position will: Lead, supervise, or conduct all phases of antitrust merger litigations and litigations challenging anticompetitive conduct, including acting as lead counsel when required.
- Advise Bureau of Competition leadership on litigation strategy, including researching and identifying viable legal theories to challenge conduct that harms competition.
- Prepare internal documents for review by the Commission and perform special assignments as directed.
- Support, train, and develop best litigation practices for Bureau staff.
