This position is located in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the property and casualty insurance sector in an underwriting capacity, including flood insurance, whether as an examiner or a position that required implementing guidance and policy language.

- Conduct research and interpret guidance and procedures to be implemented by the National Flood Insurance Programs servicing agent and Write Your Own companies.
- Conduct research and prepare correspondence on underwriting aspects of the National Flood Insurance Program.
- Prepare presentations on the most technical aspects of the National Flood Insurance Program to varied audiences including agents, insurance company staff, and other groups of stakeholders.

- Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
- All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
- Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
