About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Bassett Army Community Hospital to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska

What you will do

• Serve as a cashier, operating the Point of Sale cash register system, collecting cash from customers, making exact change, and safe guarding cash according to established procedures.
• Help deliver loaded food carts to the hospital wards for meal service to the patients meeting meal delivery times in accordance with section standards.
• Manually or using mechanical equipment, wash heavy pots and pans, dishes, trays, and serviceware from the kitchen, dining room, catering functions and patient care units.
• Clean and sanitize dishroom and pot and pan areas to include countertops, dishwashing machine, dish racks, tray return, scrapping sinks floors, and pot and pan machine.
• Disassemble trays returned from dining area, and dispose of waste in accordance with established safety and sanitation procedures.

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position is designated as Mission Essential.

The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. This position may require wearing a uniform. This position may require wearing safety shoes.

Incumbent may be required to obtain a Serve Safe Certification within 6 months of employment. Statutory return rights for current DoD employees are applicable in many circumstances.
