JOB SUMMARY: The AWS Java Full-Stack Developer Intern will support the design, development, testing, and deployment of cloud-native applications and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern front-end technologies. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop secure, scalable solutions, assist with cloud migration and application modernization initiatives, support CI/CD and DevSecOps practices, and participate in Agile software development activities. Gain hands-on experience in full-stack development, AWS cloud services, secure coding, and enterprise application delivery. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications using Java and modern web technologies. Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Build responsive user interfaces using Angular, React, or similar front-end frameworks. Support cloud-native application development and deployment on AWS. Participate in application modernization and migration initiatives. Develop system integrations and API-based solutions across enterprise platforms. Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-documented code. Participate in code reviews and apply software engineering best practices. Support automated testing, deployment, and release management activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. Must be actively pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science and/or Management & Information Systems. Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with AWS services. Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum). Prior experience with web frameworks (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, Python). Coursework or projects demonstrating an interest in cloud computing or data science. PAY TRANSPARENCY: The hourly range is $18.00 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year. In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses. Note that any education requirement listed above may be deemed satisfied if you have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
