Main duties

  • Prepares preliminary and final Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) drawings in support of maintenance, repair, and construction projects, including drawings used to develop solicitation notices and technical contract requirements.
  • Provides technical support to engineers and technical staff by developing and coordinating CADD designs, layouts, details, and notes for projects involving electrical power, lighting, telecommunications, and related infrastructure systems.
  • Independently plans and executes CADD assignments for conventional projects or portions of larger, multi-discipline projects, analyzing design options and applying appropriate drafting standards, database files, and engineering drawing conventions.
  • Maintains and administers CADD and Geographic Information System (GIS) drawing files, standards, and related software and equipment, including updating system files, supporting plotter/output operations, and assisting staff with use of available design data.

About the role

This position serves as the Engineering Technician at Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC).

RRMC is on one of the Nation's premier facilities, providing support to various Department of Defense (DoD) tenants in an all-hazards environment. **Update 9/15/2026: This announcement has been amended to extend the closing date to Monday, September 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time to expand the applicant pool.

What you will do

  • Prepares preliminary and final Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) drawings in support of maintenance, repair, and construction projects, including drawings used to develop solicitation notices and technical contract requirements.
  • Provides technical support to engineers and technical staff by developing and coordinating CADD designs, layouts, details, and notes for projects involving electrical power, lighting, telecommunications, and related infrastructure systems.
  • Independently plans and executes CADD assignments for conventional projects or portions of larger, multi-discipline projects, analyzing design options and applying appropriate drafting standards, database files, and engineering drawing conventions.
  • Maintains and administers CADD and Geographic Information System (GIS) drawing files, standards, and related software and equipment, including updating system files, supporting plotter/output operations, and assisting staff with use of available design data.
  • Conducts field and document investigations to verify as-built conditions, infrastructure modifications, and modernization changes, and updates engineering databases and drawings to accurately reflect current site conditions.
  • Maintains historical and current engineering drawings and associated records through automated document control systems, and prepares as-built drawings, base map updates, and graphical presentations for use by engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.

What to expect next
