Physical Demands Work is conducted primarily in an office environment; regular lifting, movement, assembly, connecting, testing and minor troubleshooting of computer, related office and other emergency management equipment may be required. Prolonged periods of standing and walking may be required when the EOC is activated for drills, exercises, or real world disaster incidents.
Work Environment Work is generally performed in an office setting, primarily aboard military installations, rarely in hazardous and high noise areas. The position will involve occasional travel to other installations or locations for meetings, conferences, or training and occasional fieldwork may be required.
The EMO may be required to work in austere conditions while installation services and utilities are under repair following a disaster or emergency. The EMO must be able to perform effectively in a highly stressful atmosphere and remain continually accessible to both superiors and subordinates.
During disasters and emergencies, the EMO must be available for odd shift schedules and unscheduled overtime, and be able to adjust priorities as uncontrollable changes arise.
