Main duties

  • As an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-2602-12, you will be assigned to the following Precision Measurement Equipment Lab: 190th/Forbes ANG, KS.
  • You will perform maintenance, repair, calibration, overhaul, final alignment, and modify/certify manual, semi-automatic systems, flight line test units, laboratory standards of unusually complex precision measurement and data acquisition systems.Installs, tests,repairs,overhauls,fabricates or modifies,calibrates,troubleshoots and certifies highly complex electronic systems components or subassemblies.
  • Installs and tests highly complex electronics equipment.Performs functional tests to locate equipment malfunctions in accordance with accepted trade practices to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Sets up Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment(TMDE) and uses this equipment to ensure operational accuracy by performing intricate and complex laboratory and/or on site calibrations and repairs of electronic systems.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, Position Description Number T5791000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. This regional laboratory supports several National Guard wings throughout the Midwest.

What you will do

  • As an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-2602-12, you will be assigned to the following Precision Measurement Equipment Lab: 190th/Forbes ANG, KS.
  • You will perform maintenance, repair, calibration, overhaul, final alignment, and modify/certify manual, semi-automatic systems, flight line test units, laboratory standards of unusually complex precision measurement and data acquisition systems.Installs, tests,repairs,overhauls,fabricates or modifies,calibrates,troubleshoots and certifies highly complex electronic systems components or subassemblies.
  • Installs and tests highly complex electronics equipment.Performs functional tests to locate equipment malfunctions in accordance with accepted trade practices to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Sets up Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment(TMDE) and uses this equipment to ensure operational accuracy by performing intricate and complex laboratory and/or on site calibrations and repairs of electronic systems.
  • Uses electronic measuring equipment ranging in complexity from multi meters to complex software-controlled automatic test equipment.
  • Uses and maintains tools and equipment Uses trade tools such as wire strippers, drills, files, dremel tools, soldering irons, and microsoldering units to remove and replace parts.
  • Maintains records and documents actions.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period.
  • Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Education

Applicants that have attended the Air Force Precision Measuring Equipment Specialist Course or equivalent training course from other branches of service is desired. Please include certification.

  • The certification should also include your rank, dates of active duty service and what the condition of discharge is thought to be.
  • If claiming 10-point preference and/or are a 30% or more Disabled Veteran, you must submit both a DD Form-214 or expected discharge documentation as described above AND a copy of a letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or your branch of service certifying the presence of service-connected disability and indicating the percentage of disability If you are claiming eligibility based on 10-point derived veterans' preference (i.e. a spouse, widow/widower, or parent of a veteran claiming veterans' preference when the veteran is unable to use it), you must also submit a Standard Form 15 (SF-15) "Application for 10-Point Veteran's Preference" and any required documents indicated on the SF-15 to substantiate the claimed preference.
  • If Claiming Military Spouse Preference (MSP) must provide additional supporting documentation: Signed self-certification checklist, PCS orders, Marriage certificate or license.

  • DoD MR and NG Preference Eligible Tech Receiving Disability Retirement must submit the following documentation: Military Reserve and Technician Disability PPP Self Certification Checklist (DD 3145-2), Termination SF-50 Separation stating that the applicant has Priority Placement Eligibility Notice of Separation confirming of eligibility.
  • DOD Military Spouse preference must submit the following documentation: Marriage Certificate, Spouses PCS Orders, Military Spouse PPP Self Certification Checklist DoD Retained Grade preference must submit the following documentation: Retained Grade PPP Self Certification Checklist (DD3145-1), SF-50 effecting the placement in retained grade status, and a copy of the notification letter received (RIF or classification downgrade) YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DOCUMENT, IN YOUR APPLICATION PACKAGE, EVIDENCE THAT SUPPORTS YOUR ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATION CLAIMS.
