What you will do

• Provide diagnostic evaluations, individual and group therapy, and brief evidence-based interventions within a multidisciplinary mental health clinic.
• Assess and manage acute and chronic mental health concerns, including suicide risk, crisis presentations, and complex biopsychosocial conditions.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, command teams, and community partners to coordinate care, safety planning, and appropriate referrals.
• Develop and document treatment goals using the “specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound” format, and maintain complete clinical records in accordance with federal, state, and hospital regulations.
• Participate in and lead quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including reviewing clinical records, monitoring outcome measures, and evaluating clinical procedures.
• Provide staff education, professional development, and training on mental health topics to strengthen clinical practice across the organization.

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

Term positions: One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.

Permanent, term, part-time, intermittent or temporary positions may be filled from this solicitation. Eligibility for benefits depends on the type of position you hold and whether your position is temporary, full-time, part-time, or intermittent.

Intermittent Positions: This position does not provide guaranteed work hours each week, and work will be assigned on an intermittent "as needed basis." This position will NOT lead to a full-time position. Intermittent employees are NOT eligible for benefits (Health and Life Insurance)(Annual and Sick Leave).

Temporary Positions: A temporary position is time limited and may be extended in one year increments to a maximum of three years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment. Term Positions: A term position is time-limited and may be extended to a maximum of eight years. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions. Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change. Statutory return rights for current DoD employees are applicable in many circumstances.
