About the role

This is for a Child and Youth Services Job Fair hiring event to fill Child and Youth Program Assistant positions for different age groups at Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl, Miesau, and Sembach in Germany. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will be paid. Must apply to this announcement and attend the 15 September 2026 Job Fair and be selected.

What you will do

  • Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs.
  • Actively supervises and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events.
  • Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines for children/youth using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials which includes group and individual activities.
  • Helps arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals.
  • Identifies and responds to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.

Education

At minimum a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. Proof of education is required at the time of application. Note: Education must be directly related to the position to be filled.

General Education courses do not count toward the credit total. All education documents must be in English or have a translated copy provided. In order to meet entry level requirements you must upload a copy of your HS Diploma, HS Transcript (showing the completion date), GED certificate or proof of a college degree.

To meet the requirements beyond entry level a college transcript showing course work or certifications will be required to validate the higher graded qualifications. Additional information in regards to the education requirement can be found in the Applicant Information Kit.

Area of Consideration This job is open to candidates who currently live within a 100 kilometer or 60-mile radius of Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl, Miesau, or Sembach, Germany.

Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Foreign overseas allowances, Post Allowance, and differentials will not be paid.

If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for Early Intervention Services (EIS) will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
