What you will do

• Perform full range of advanced practice nursing care duties for patients requiring psychiatric/behavioral health services.
• Evaluate new patient and existing patients on behavioral health/psychiatric needs.
• Implement mutually agreed upon solutions regarding behavioral health.
• Educate patients about risks and benefits of prescribed medications.
• Observe patients closely, evaluate and record any significant behavior and reaction patterns.
• Comply with all appropriate Joint Commission standards and National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects.
• Maintain appropriate records using a computerized record keeping and coding system.
• Participate in the quality improvement system.

Education

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

Term positions: One year trial/probationary period may be required. Permanent, term, part-time, intermittent or temporary positions may be filled from this solicitation. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.

This is subject to change. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Applications will be reviewed and referred for selection as vacancies occur within the organization.

Statutory return rights for current DoD employees are applicable in many circumstances.

Applicants selected from the contiguous United States (contiguous United States consists of the 48 adjoining U.S. states plus Washington, D.C., on the continent of North America) will be afforded pay retention in circumstances in which the basic rate of pay would otherwise be reduced if selected for the position.

This position does not provide guaranteed work hours each week, and work will be assigned on an intermittent "as needed basis." This position will NOT lead to a full -time position. Intermittent employees are NOT eligible for benefits (Health and Life Insurance) (Annual and Sick Leave).

Temporary Positions: A temporary position is time limited and may be extended in one year increments toa maximum of three years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment. Term Positions: A term position is time-limited and may be extended to a maximum of eight years. Everything else is good.
