About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: As a Winchman assigned to the Operations Division, River Operations Branch, MSU you will utilize your skills to operate diesel winches on a mat sinking mooring barge. -The duty location will be wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located.

What you will do

• Operate diesel winches on mat sinking mooring barge.
• Remain alert to sudden changes in desired movement of plant, workers in and around winch cables and lines, cable entanglements, and unusual strain on winch and winch cables, to prevent injury to personnel, cable breakage, and damage to equipment.
• Keep cables clear of drift.
• Clean winch and winch area; grease and lubricate moving parts of winch; make minor repairs and assist mechanics.
