About the role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1194000 and is part of the KY FMS 4, National Guard.

What you will do

  • As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC-TITLE 32, WG-5801-10, you will troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and overhaul major systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose the cause of mechanical failures.
  • Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and systems.
  • Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems.
  • Conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform operational inspections and ensure vehicles and equipment are properly serviced.
  • May maintain and repair equipment to include removing and replacing components and elements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable.
  • Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
  • You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
  • Wear of the military uniform.
  • Position may require a pre-employment physical.
  • May be subject to furlough actions.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
  • This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
