THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1295000 and is part of the PA Field Maintenance Shop 2, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.
What you will do
- As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-13, you will plan on a quarterly or longer basis, the overall use of subordinate personnel and resources under their control.
- Determine resource requirements, materials, the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules.
- Assign and explain work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines, and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed.
- Maintain balanced workloads by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operations.
- Assure that subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies to achieve management objectives.
- Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, makes formal appraisals of their performance, and determines their training needs.
- Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.
- Implements and complies with agency, state, and federal regulatory Occupational Safety and Health, and environmental requirements.
- Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
- May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Technicians eligible for re-promotion will be considered prior to using competitive promotion procedures, except when another technician has a statutory or regulatory right to be placed in or considered for the position.
In accordance with section 9902(h) of title 5, United States Code, annuitants reemployed in the Department of Defense shall receive full annuity and salary upon appointment. They shall not be eligible for retirement contributions, participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, or a supplemental or redetermined annuity for the employment period.
Discontinued service retirement annuitants (i.e., retired under section 8336(d)(1) or 8414(b)(1)(A) of title 5 United States Code) appointed to the Department of Defense may elect to be subject to retirement provisions of the new appointment as appropriate.
