About the role

You will serve as a Supervisory Recreation Fee Technician with Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

What you will do

  • The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the performance of clerical and technical work that is associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations.
  • The major duties of the Supervisory Recreation Fee Technician position include, but are not limited to, the following: Directly supervises the performance of clerical and technical work that is associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA).
  • Performs assignments in accordance with all regulations governing the handling of government funds and separation of duties.
  • Develops and delivers written and oral communications including memorandums, operating procedures, guidelines for park operations.
  • Collaborates with others in the development of a comprehensive fee collection program.
  • Directly supervises up to four permanent recreation fee technicians and two seasonal recreation fee technicians.

In addition to the application and application questionnaire, this position requires successful completion of additional assessments, including a subject matter expert (SME) panel resume review. These assessments measure the critical competencies listed above that are required to successfully perform the job.

  • Eligibility Documentation: Current and former Federal employees must submit latest SF-50 (i.e. Promotion, Separation, Within Grade Increase (WGI)) showing tenure 1 or 2 in block 24, grade, and if applicable, an additional SF-50 showing the highest grade or promotion potential held.
  • Time in grade will be determined by reviewing your resume and required SF-50s.
  • If your SF-50 showing highest permanent grade held has an effective date within the past year, your resume must clearly show that you held that grade for one year.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: This position may require standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money.

If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, and other emergency response duties. This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station.

Work may be frequently performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods.

Duties may be performed alone and/or in isolated locations.
