About the role

Join our team as a Supervisory Physician.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Clinical Director and oversee the Division of Clinical Services to exercise managerial responsibility for planning, development, organization, integration, administration, and evaluation of the clinical services including Primary Care, Dental, Radiology, Laboratory, Optometry, Pharmacy and Behavioral Health.

  • Leads clinical quality, accreditation, and risk-management activities, overseeing medical audits and credentialing, implementing quality improvement plans, and addressing patient grievances, incidents, and risk concerns.
  • Plans and manages clinical programs, resources, and departmental operations, including developing and implementing policies and procedures, expanding or contracting patient-care services, determining resource requirements, managing budgets and contracts, and advising on equipment and facility needs.
  • Provides comprehensive direct primary care across the lifespan, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, referrals and transfers, trauma and wound management, basic orthopedic procedures, prenatal/postpartum care, and family-planning services within established clinical privileges.
  • Collaborates with organizational and community partners to ensure coordinated patient care, working with nursing, ancillary services, other providers and facilities, case managers, social services, leadership, and tribal programs while maintaining accurate health records and promoting patient and community education.

Additional information

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service.

This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is ineligible for the Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized.

You will be required to sign a service agreement.

This position has no promotion potential. The Indian Health Service (IHS), National Health Service Corps (NHSC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) have student loan repayment programs for qualifying health disciplines.
