Supervisory Healthcare Engineer

About the role

The Supervisory Projects Engineer ensures safe, reliable, and a precisely controlled operating environment for direct patient care through management of a design and construction program to build and renovate hospital and support environments.

What you will do

• Provides matrix management support and technical expert consultation to the Chief of Engineering Service.
• Makes recommendations to the Chief of Engineering for final approval, and has responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the Medical Center Design and Construction program and oversight.
• Collaborates with operations and program managers to ensure integrated goals and priorities for all projects are met.
• Works closely with peers in other service lines to meet their project needs as internal customers and the needs of external customers as well.
• Responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and management processes for the Engineering Service Project Section that includes setting qualitative and quantitative standards.
• Provides professional and technical guidance and direction and review of assigned programs, including professional engineering work in several disciplines such as; architecture, civil engineering, energy engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, environmental engineering, fire safety, and safety engineering.
• Manages human resource functions such as hiring, performance, training and development.
• Establishes parameters in support of project scope development, ensuring alignment with master plan/strategic capital investment goals and Department objectives, goals, policies and priorities.
• Prepares correspondence, technical reports, estimates, fact sheets, status reports, and schedules as required to complete project assignments Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1600 Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Up to 10% per year, to be paid in two installments, with a 2-year service agreement may be authorized.

What to expect next

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.
