About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for STEM Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position will serve as a Supervisory General Engineer located at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas.

What you will do

  • Leads the Engineering Development Division at Pine Bluff Arsenal.
  • Designs and tests process where required to provide expertise to resolve the problem.
  • Supervises a multidisciplinary professional engineering staff and/or supporting staff of approximately 10 employees.
  • Directs technical staff in solving complex problems related to the total mission.
  • Provides engineering support for design and operational problems associated with environmental management.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Directs the approved projects using in-house or contractor expertise.
  • Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems.
  • Administers the personnel matters for the office, recommends and justifies personnel actions, promotions, separations, etc. Advises senior leaders on the design and technology of chemical munitions

This position may require a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.

One year supervisory probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a(n) Engineers and Scientists Career Field (16) Career Field position.

Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.

This position is designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) you may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. May require overtime work.

Situational Telework may be authorized by Supervisor on a case by case basis. All selections under an announcement must be made within 3 months from the issuance date of the certificate referral list. Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) may be authorized.

Relocation/Retention Incentive may be be authorized. Defense National Relocation Program will not be authorized.
