About the role
The position is located in one of eight field offices within the Office of Field Office Management , Domestic Operations Directorate, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, (DS/DO/FLD).
FLD is responsible for managing and coordinating processes and policies related to the overall management of the domestic field and resident offices throughout the U.S. For more information about the Bureau, visit: DS
What you will do

- Oversee the conduct of criminal investigations within the field office, including case initiation, progress monitoring, resource allocations for undercover operations or arrests and preparation for prosecution or admin actions.
- Provide advice and guidance to leadership throughout DS and the Department, as well as other USG agencies, regarding DSS plans, strategies, and policy development for their field office's operations and programs.

The evaluation process consists of the ApplyGov Competency Based Assessments and a crediting plan for which applicants will be assigned a score between 70 and 100. The assessment is used to measure the degree in which your background matches the competencies and KSAs required for this position. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Knowledge of policies, programs, and strategic priorities sufficient to guide field office operations.
Skill in negotiating and resolving conflicts among parties with differing or opposing interests. Ability to lead and supervise, including assigning work, evaluating performance, and resolving personnel issues. Knowledge of criminal investigative techniques, principles, and practices sufficient to oversee investigations.
Skill in planning, organizing, and directing the operations of a criminal investigative field office. Ability to establish and maintain effective liaison relationships with federal, state, local, and foreign government law enforcement officials.
