About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year-round including surfing, fishing, and hiking.

What you will do

• Serve as the US Army Garrison, Hawaii (USAG-HI)/US Army Hawaii (USARHAW) Conservation Branch Chief, Environmental Division, Directorate of Public Works (DPW).
• Manage and/or coordinate various environmental programs where mission and the range of program activities result in problems that are exceptionally broad and complex.
• Refine existing work methods and techniques for the analysis of specific issues or resolution of problems, devising new ways to implement program requirements, and promoting pollution prevention methods and techniques.
• Independently responsible for developing and implementing new or substantially modified methods, policies or criteria to fit specific Command situations.

Education

Basic Requirement for Historian (0170): 1. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR 2.

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as planning and administering an Environmental Conservation program, including licensing and permitting requirements; performing coordination/liaison with State, Federal agencies to resolve environmental compliance requirements; present executive level briefings on environmental protection, restoration or conservation impacts.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
