About the role

About the Position: Serve as the Gray AAF Supervisory Airfield Operations Specialist under direct supervision of the Airfield Manager, and primary point of contact (POC) for airfield Continuity of Operations (COOP).

What you will do

  • Maintain status of the availability of airfield operations, equipment, and facilities in support of mission requirements necessitating close coordination with staff entities.
  • Responsible for airfield infrastructure and development and assignment of aircraft parking for tenant and transient aircraft.
  • Direct the work of the Airfield Operations Specialists assigned to the Base Operations section.
  • Advise and provide counsel to personnel regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Coordinate scheduling of the airfield environment with major unit commands to ensure safe and efficient utilization.
  • Administer and monitor the maintenance program for assigned equipment.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of airfield management, including technical capabilities of the aircraft, safety requirements, air traffic and airspace rules and procedures, and other related functions.

One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be authorized. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Student loan repayment MAY be authorized.

Salary negotiations for thos candidates who are new to Federal service MAY be authorized. Credit for Prior Non-Federal Work Experience and Certain Military Service for Determining Annual Leave Accrual Rate may be authorized. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 5 years by a current permanent Army employee.

Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
