Main duties

  • As a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-10, you will inspect and troubleshoot aircraft structures such as fuselage, tail, wings, cowlings and stabilizers; repair cracks in aircraft skin; set up, operate and maintain power shears, metal brakes, rolls, dimpling machines, drills, saws, heat-treating furnaces, hardness testers, arc and oxyacetalene welders and other metal working equipment and tools of the trade; paint, strip or stencil aircraft and/or components; assist in other functions within the Component Repair Shop; assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire/crash/rescue duties; perform other duties as assigned.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0416000 and is part of the NC ASO, National Guard (ASO-AASF 2/ Manning Document 4622-100).

What you will do

  • As a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-10, you will inspect and troubleshoot aircraft structures such as fuselage, tail, wings, cowlings and stabilizers; repair cracks in aircraft skin; set up, operate and maintain power shears, metal brakes, rolls, dimpling machines, drills, saws, heat-treating furnaces, hardness testers, arc and oxyacetalene welders and other metal working equipment and tools of the trade; paint, strip or stencil aircraft and/or components; assist in other functions within the Component Repair Shop; assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire/crash/rescue duties; perform other duties as assigned.
