We are seeking a physician leader to serve as Service Line Chief at the Cape Girardeau VA Health Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Lead multidisciplinary clinical services while maintaining clinical practice in your specialty.

Preferred specialties include Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Radiology, General Surgery and Urology, with additional specialties considered.

What you will do

• Pershing VA Medical Center is seeking an accomplished physician leader to serve as Service Line Chief at the Cape Girardeau VA Health Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
• This key clinical leadership position provides oversight of physician practice and assigned clinical services while allowing the successful candidate to continue practicing within their medical specialty and maintain clinical proficiency.
• We welcome physicians from a broad range of backgrounds.
• Preferred specialties include Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Radiology, General Surgery and Urology.
• Physicians specializing in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Primary Care and Emergency Medicine will also be considered.
• As Service Line Chief, you will provide senior medical leadership for the Cape Girardeau HCC, helping guide clinical operations, quality, access, resource management and the delivery of high-quality Veteran care.
• You will work closely with facility leadership and multidisciplinary clinical teams while helping shape services that respond to the evolving needs of Veterans throughout Southeast Missouri.

• The SLC shall participate in activities designated to meet all relevant requirements, including those of the Joint Commission and other accredited agencies.
• Incumbent is responsible for the overall performance of the services assigned and is expected to practice in his/her discipline to maintain clinical proficiency.
• Incumbent will be a key member of the clinical leadership team and reports directly to the HCC Administrator with professional oversight by the JJPVAMC Chief of Staff.
• Incumbent is responsible to ensure that high quality patient care is delivered in a resource efficient manner.
• Responsibilities include the complete range of resource management including position management and budgeting.
• The successful candidate should possess excellent leadership skills and should be knowledgeable and proficient with VA performance measures and the principles of system redesign, including implementation and promotion of outpatient clinic access and hospital flow.
• The SLC promotes an effective mix, coordination and support of clinical care by evaluating current and potential patient needs, clinical workload and resources, and special programs/mandates.
• He/She promotes and evaluates standards of clinical competence and conduct for staff which are maintained through compliance with the credentialing and privileging processes, monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice, peer review, and other appropriate quality assurance activities.
• Areas of responsibility consist of: Mental Health, Primary Care, Audiology, Optometry, Specialty Care, and Radiology Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Requirements

Education

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted.

For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C.

7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
