The Miami VA Healthcare System's Nursing Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic RN Assistant Nurse Manager. Our ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.
What you will do

- Duties include but are not limited to: Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) as an Assistant Nurse Manager (Secondary) and Nurse on Duty (NOD) (Primary) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
- Provide coverage for other ANMs and NODs as needed.
- Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
- Assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours as assigned.
- They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.

Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

VHA locations include, but are not limited to, VA hospitals and associated clinics, community living centers (CLCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), domiciliary units, Vet centers and VA-leased medical facilities.
HCP include all VA licensed and unlicensed, clinical and administrative, remote and onsite, paid and without compensation, full- and part-time employees, intermittent employees, fee basis employees, VA contractors, researchers, volunteers and health professions trainees (HPTs) who are expected to perform any or all of their work at these facilities.
HPTs may be paid or unpaid and include residents, interns, fellows and students. HCP also includes VHA personnel providing home-based care to Veterans and drivers and other personnel whose duties put them in contact with patients outside VA medical facilities.
