About the role

This position is located at NAS Sigonella, Aquatics Section, Fitness Branch, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. The primary purpose of this position is to act as pool lifeguard and swimming instructor.

What you will do

  • Incumbent performs work within the swimming program including instruction in various swimming skills and styles and basic diving for various age groups.
  • Ensures that swimmers observe all water safety rules.
  • Performs rescue work and when necessary renders emergency first aid until such time as a qualified doctor is present.
  • Completes appropriate accident reports.
  • Incumbent is responsible for the safety of all swimmers by ensuring everyone is accounted for.
  • Checks identification and ensures that only authorized patrons utilize the facility.
  • Performs necessary maintenance work required for sanitation and cleanliness of the pool and pool area.
  • Ensures that all paperwork/course records are completed and turned into Red Cross promptly after course completion.
  • Teaches classes by using appropriate equipment and is responsible for its proper storage.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Transcripts from foreign colleges must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered.

Using the qualifications of the position, a predetermined rating criterion of KSAs will be used for each resume. The selecting official may choose to conduct interviews.

Note: The NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between Italy and the United States prohibits the hiring of any person who holds Italian citizenship and is considered a Dual National by the Italian Government into any U.S. position. Those U.S. citizens who are considered "ordinarily resident" in Italy are also ineligible for employment by U.S. commands and activities in Italy.

Contractors and their family members are also ineligible if they do not have civilian component status.

  • If claiming Department of Defense (DOD) Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) Business Based Action (BBA) priority consideration: provide a copy of the notice of separation If claiming Military Spouse Preference: provide a copy of the sponsor's Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders and a marriage certificate at the time of application If claiming Veteran's Preference: provide a copy of your DD-214, Member-4 page and any supporting documentation (SF-15, V.A. disability letter, proof of service, etc.) If a current or former Federal Employee: provide a copy of your most recent Personnel Action Report (PAR) or SF-50
