About the role

About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Buckner and Elmendorf Fitness Center Pool on JBER, AK. Applications are open to ages 16 and older. Applicants will be reviewed and referred every week until the close of this announcement.

Flexible employees schedules depend on the needs of the activity and may be subject to "on call" work in addition to hours posted on the schedule. You may work 0 hours per week up to 40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
• Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
• Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
• Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions.
• When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
• Ensures that diving boards, swimming equipment, and deck area are inspected frequently for cracks, loose matting, debris or hazards and that necessary repairs and notification(s) are made.
• May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include cleaning of bath houses, main pools, pool decks, etc. If interested in applying for this position you may preview the online application: ***

Education

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.

A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
