About the role

About the Position: The incumbent of this position serves as Public Safety Telecommunicator for the US Army Installation Management Command, in the Directorate of Emergency Services Fire Protection and Prevention Division in Fort Carson Colorado.

What you will do

  • Operates supporting communication equipment to include administrative and direct line telephones to include crash phones and Language Line, Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf (TDD), conventional and interoperability radio systems.
  • Operate computer-based hazardous materials databases to provide field units with accurate information during emergencies.
  • Coordinates with internal units and agencies to conduct alarm testing.
  • Works with Fire Prevention to perform fire drills at schools and Childe Development Centers assists in troubleshooting malfunction alarms.
  • Answers 911 calls, conducts emergency and non-emergency call processing using Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) consoles or CAD capability through 911 modernization, if applicable, and or Land Mobile Radios (LMR).
  • Processes and prioritizes incoming alarms with or without visual indicators to determine an appropriate response.

Basis for Rating: Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of three quality categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified and Qualified. Veteran preference eligibles are listed ahead of non-preference eligibles within each quality category. Best Qualified.

Candidates in this category possess exceptional skills and experience to exceed well above the minimum requirements for the announced position. Highly Qualified. Candidates in this category possess good skills and experience above the minimum requirements for the announced position.

Qualified. Candidates in this category meet the minimum experience requirements for the announced position. If a Military Spouse Preference applicant is determined best qualified and selected, placement must be at the full performance level for priority consideration.
