Main duties

About the role

Serves as the Logistics Program Support Assistant (LPSA) for the Logistics Service in a VA Health Care System (VAHCS) and supported catchment area. The position has administrative responsibility, accountability, and oversight for the Logistics programs and activities across the full jurisdiction of the health care system.

The position reports directly to the Facility Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO).

What you will do

  • The Logistics Program Support Assistant (LPSA) assists the Administrative Officer (AO) to coordinate and implement all the administrative activities of the service.
  • Major duties include but are not limited to: Program Support- Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and /or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Logistics Service program operation.
  • Clerical Support- Provides clerical contact support for Logistics Service including answering phones, scheduling interviews and office appointments, tracking and monitoring deadlines, and coordinating with Human Resources Customer Service- Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA Missions.
  • Employee with take initiative in resolving issues and refer complex problems to their immediate supervisor, with proposed alternative solutions.
  • Timekeeping- Serves as the official timekeeper for the site and maintains timecards for all employees.
  • Personal/Professional Development/Training- : Follows guidelines consisting of established procedures and specific guidelines in the form of agency policies and procedures, VA/VHA Directives, Handbooks, federal codes and specific related regulations pertinent to training and administrative protocol.
  • Local travel to and from the main facility as needed.
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant/PD10418A Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Requires some physical effort such as standing, sitting, walking, or bending.
  • There are no special physical demands.
  • The work is performed in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts.

A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
