About the role

About the Position: This position is located within the Department of Nursing, 2S, at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

This position is working with critically ill patients in the ICU.

What you will do

• Enter information about the patient's condition, an assessment of the patient's condition and a plan of action to carry out nursing care.
• Recognize life-threatening conditions and perform, or assist in, resuscitation procedures in cardiac or respiratory arrest.
• Observe and document all pertinent data regarding the physical and emotional status of patients.
• Train and assist with training to newly assigned personnel; teach and notify patients of necessary preparation and medication to be administered prior to treatment.
• Promptly assess and takes action to alleviate problems reflected in subtle changes in the patient's condition such as dizziness or slight rise in temperature.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
