About the Position: This position is located within the 412th Medical Group, Edwards Air Force Base, California. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

What you will do

  • Serve as a recognized technical authority in the delivery of Family Medicine across the family medicine clinic, primary care clinic, urgent care clinic, and other clinical settings within the military medical treatment facility.
  • Prepare treatment plans based on thorough evaluation and diagnoses consistent with current evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
  • Identify illness and prescribe and administer healthcare treatment plans for patients across the full spectrum of age, gender, and complexity, including those suffering from injury or disease.
  • Develop and implement new clinical approaches, treatment protocols, and care delivery models, including primary care optimization, population health management initiatives, and chronic disease management programs.
  • Perform emergency services and crisis intervention, including life-saving emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Provide advice by telephone and/or in person to other physicians, non-physician providers, and other professional medical staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and nonurgent medical problems.
  • Plan, develop, and direct the clinical operations of the assigned program, including establishing clinical workflows, patient access standards, productivity benchmarks, and quality metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve care delivery, advise on difficult or complex cases, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment. Position requires employee to wear a uniform and/or protective clothing. Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential.

The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions. Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
