About the role

This position is located within the Phoenix Epidemiology and Clinical Research Branch (PECRB), a program focused on advancing the understanding of type 2 diabetes and obesity.

The incumbent will serve as a Physician (Clinical) in the Obesity and Diabetes Clinical Research Section (ODCRS) of the Phoenix Epidemiology and Clinical Research Branch (PECRB) of NIDDK, providing services to participants in research studies in conformity with the NIH Institutional Review Board.

What you will do

• Serve as a principle and/or co-investigator on research projects of broad and complex scope.
• Collaborate with the Section Chief and Branch Chief in expanding clinical protocols.
• Provide specialized medical expertise in clinical research.
• Analyze, evaluate and interpret scientific and clinical data in order to prepare papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at seminars and scientific meetings.
• Provide directions and recommendations for the establishment, revision or reevaluation of the goals and objectives of research programs.
• Serve as medical liaison between the Institute/Center and research working groups and committees and between own organization and other NIH programs.

This position is designated as an "emergency essential" position and the selected candidate will be considered an "emergency essential" employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances (e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapses in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations) for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage.

Title 38 pay is included in the salary of this position and is based on the physician's experience and field of expertise. If selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE Form 450 to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency.
