About the Position: This position is located at Fort Drum, New York, Guthrie Army Health Clinic, Director of Medicine, Family Medicine. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation This is an open continuous announcement. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement at any of the locations listed.

What you will do

  • Assess, plan, evaluate, and modify the plan of acute and chronically ill patients.
  • Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings of diagnostics tests to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems.
  • Determine the primary care requirements of adult patients and engage in a collaborative approach with the physician team to assess, manage, and adjust therapeutic strategies as necessary.
  • Write prescriptions, order the administration of medications, dispense medication and prescribe controlled substances in accordance with scope of practice for Physician Assistants.
  • Evaluate the total health care needs of patients and develop plans to meet the patients' needs.
  • Coordinate with patients regarding physicians' findings and diagnoses, laboratory results, follow-up treatment plan or the effect of medications prescribed in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Oversee compliance with the preventive healthcare needs of adult patients visiting the clinic.

One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.

A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized.
