About the role
The VISN Pharmacy EHR Informatics/Solution Consultant - Outpatient/Supply Chain serves as the dedicated subject matter expert for outpatient pharmacy operations and pharmacy supply chain functionality within the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR).
This position provides focused, domain-specific informatics leadership and issue resolution for outpatient dispensing, outpatient workflow, medication distribution, pharmacy automation, and pharmacy supply chain systems across VISN facilities.

- Provides subject matter expertise to assist with the integration of clinical and informatics processes necessary to achieve successful adoption of new technologies in the outpatient and supply chain domains.
- Responsible for providing on-going technical and clinical expertise to assure consistent delivery of high-quality information structures, information processes, and information technology within this scope.
- Ensures dedicated, targeted representation for the outpatient and supply chain domains at required VISN and national meetings, workgroups, and voting bodies.
- Receives and triages reports of EHR issues related to outpatient pharmacy and supply chain, ensures issues are routed appropriately for resolution, provides troubleshooting and validation support, and communicates resolution outcomes.
- Maintains the skill and knowledge necessary to train outpatient pharmacists for virtual pharmacy and surge support programs, ensuring VISN facilities have a ready, trained workforce to flex outpatient staffing during periods of high demand or contingency operations.
- Represents VISN Pharmacy on national Federal EHR optimization initiatives, special projects, the Tier 1 Pharmacy SME Team, and multiple national and VISN-level workstreams related to outpatient pharmacy and supply chain functionality.
- Performs any clinical or operational duties as needed to support VISN Leadership and Pharmacy Informatics, consistent with the outpatient/supply chain scope of this position.

HCP include all VA licensed and unlicensed, clinical and administrative, remote and onsite, paid and without compensation, full- and part-time employees, intermittent employees, fee basis employees, VA contractors, researchers, volunteers and health professions trainees (HPTs) who are expected to perform any or all of their work at these facilities.
HPTs may be paid or unpaid and include residents, interns, fellows and students. HCP also includes VHA personnel providing home-based care to Veterans and drivers and other personnel whose duties put them in contact with patients outside VA medical facilities.
