THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a PAINTER - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2127000 and is part of the KY CSMS, National Guard.

What you will do

  • As a PAINTER - TITLE 32, WG-4102-9, you will prepare surfaces by removing rust, paint, and loose particles.
  • Fill in holes and dents using body fillers and hardeners.
  • Sand and even out dents and scars to assure a smooth and level surface using sanders, scrapers, sandpaper, hand tools, wire brushes, and paint remover.
  • Apply coatings to specified areas ensuring the surfaces are free from skips, runs, and drips.
  • Apply rustproof compound to areas.
  • Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray paint equipment.
  • Prepare coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in additives needed.
  • Use measuring equipment to achieve the proper viscosity and thickness for applying the coatings.
  • Apply prime, intermediate and final coats of semi-gloss, gloss and other paint, lacquer, enamel, varnish and shellac.
  • Ensure match, texture and appearance meet finish requirements.
  • Replace and apply markings/lettering as specified by manuals.
  • Apply coatings using acceptable methods of the trade.
  • Read and interpret blueprints when applying camouflage patterns.
  • Read and interpret directions that relate to mixture, use, and application of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents.
  • Monitor and adjust air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings.
  • Complete records for paint usage and paint waste as per environmental regulations.
  • Apply Chemical Agent Reactive Coating materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions.
  • Manage workflow in paint shop as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Confer with the customer when needed.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable.

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
  • You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
  • Wear of the military uniform.
  • Position may require a pre-employment physical.
  • May be subject to furlough actions.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
  • This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
