About the Position: The position is part-time (40 hours per pay period); Rotating Shifts; 12- Hours Shifts may include: 0645-1915/1845-0715; 8 hour shift may include: 0645-1515/1045-1915/1845-0315/2245-0715; nights/weekends/holidays - rotations may change every 3-6 months (Hours may vary at commands discretion) This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

What you will do

• Assesses nursing needs and develops and implements a Plan of Care for each patient.
• Provides comprehensive professional nursing care to critically ill patients in an ICU.
• Responds decisively to life-threatening changes in patient condition, providing immediate and appropriate emergency measures.
• Facilitator to mediate complaints and concerns of patients, family members and staff, taking immediate action to resolve or refer to a higher authority.
• Recommends strategies to improve nursing unit organization and functions utilizing evidence-based practice.
• Plans, delegates, and directs nursing care, based on patient care requirements and staff skill levels.
• Functions as charge nurse of a particular shift on a recurring basis, assuming the responsibility for promoting quality, cost-effective nursing care.
• Respond to all emergencies during the shift and responsible for advanced cardiac life support code team (ACLS/PALS/NRP/STABLE) management until arrival of physician.
• Attendance at high-risk deliveries and Conducts Maternal-Fetal Assessment.
• Provide neonatal resuscitation.
• Neonatal and Adult Intravenous therapy.
• Management of peripheral and umbilical IV lines, administration medications, maintenance of CPAP, and nasal gastric tubes for specialized feedings.
• Assessment and care of premature and ill infants.
• Circulates and scrubs for Cesarean Sections

Education
