About the role

About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Army Field Support Battalion, Supply & Services Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

What you will do

• Perform a variety of routine and special inspections of conventional, improved conventional and non-standard ammunition.
• Assist quality assurance specialist during Quantity Distance Surveys and Standard Operating Procedures preparation and in maintaining a variety of publications, regulations, and files pertaining to work of the unit.
• Perform periodic storage and special inspections to determine quality, safety, and condition of a wide variety of ammunition, sub-components, and materials used in the maintenance, modification, and manufacture of ammunition items.
• Perform quality monitoring of maintenance operations, area inspections, and magazine storage inspections.
• Inspect small arms ammunition, artillery and mortar ammunition, rockets, missiles, mines, grenades, bulk high explosives, propellants/propelling charges, fuses, primers, electo-explosive devices, and experimental and non-standard ammunition.
• Inspect incoming material from other installations and vendors for damage in transit, safety, serviceability, and compliance with applicable references (mil-standards, drawings, and other publications).
• Perform verification inspections in conjunction with ammunition maintenance or modification operations.

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. When you perform a Civilian Permanent Change of Station (PCS) with the government, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) considers the majority of your entitlements to be taxable.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.

Position may be made permanent without further competition.
