About the role
The employee is responsible for picking up and delivering clean and soiled laundry throughout the Medical Center. This position is located in West Haven, Connecticut.
What you will do
- Loading and unloading linen carts, unpacking new linen, marking new linen, delivering linen to the Unit from the clean linen room, delivering uniforms, folding clean linen, and performing other related activities.
- Gathers, assembles, consolidates, and lifts bags of soiled linen into carts.
- Pushes loaded carts from the dock onto laundry truck.
- Ensures laundry carts/cargo are properly secured to prevent damage to the equipment and/or vehicle.
- Transports carts to the laundry area where they are unloaded and weighed on a dock scale.
- Maneuvers the vehicle in and around congested dock areas of the hospital.
- Operates dock leveling devices.
- Sanitizes truck following each soiled linen delivery to the laundry.
- Loads clean carts of linen onto the truck at the clean laundry dock.
- Delivers clean carts to all distribution points.
- Returns all empty linen carts to the laundry area for restocking.
- Follows established delivery schedules.
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle and other equipment.
- Reports maintenance or repair needs to the Textile Care Manager or Work Leader.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
