About the role

About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Mortuary Affairs Coordinator carrying out all phases of mortuary services and assistance for the Casualty Assistance Center (CAC).

What you will do

  • Present briefs to senior leads, military teams, and families.
  • Inspects deceased service member remains.
  • Serves as purchase card holder and is responsible for ensuring the government purchase card statement are reconciled and annotated monthly in accordance with regulations.
  • Serves as a member of a disaster response team in the search, recovery, evacuation, and identification of remains at an accident site.
  • Responds to oral and written inquiries from family members, congressional personnel as well as government and non-government agencies pertaining to the care and disposition of remains.
  • Orders, receives, and maintains accountability of interment flags, flag cases, forms, and mass casualty supplies.

You will be evaluated based on how well you meet the qualifications listed in this vacancy announcement. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 4 Years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.

Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
