About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees

What you will do

  • Serve as design engineer for equipment, fixtures, and tooling, required to support re-manufacture of heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles and associated sub-assemblies.
  • Perform complex engineering duties associated with the conception, design, redesign or modification of equipment, fixtures and/or tooling to support maintenance mission programs.
  • Exercise independent professional engineering judgment and applies latest state-of-the-art principles to designs received during the concept, development, test and production engineering phases.
  • Conduct market research to determine the latest state-of-the-art equipment/technology available and develops complex purchase descriptions for all types of production equipment.
  • Perform original design studies relative to concept and design of equipment, fixtures and tooling to support vehicle systems and their components.
  • Evaluate project/system by considering all interacting factors such as facilities, space requirements, equipment, machinery, specification requirement and capabilities, work flow, line balance, environmental controls and economic justifications.
